Randolph and Lynchburg are a perfect fit—a small, active college and a small, active town with more outdoor fun and hot nightlife than cities twice its size.
When you come to Randolph, you’re an instant citizen of this young college town at the foot of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. Lynchburg is home to three schools in addition to Randolph—Lynchburg College, Sweet Briar College, and Liberty University—adding up to 16,000 total students in the area.
Randolph students and faculty frequently partner with friends and colleagues from these nearby colleges for special research projects, community outreach programs and volunteer opportunities.
Lynchburg is home to over 100 nonprofit organizations that have close ties to the Randolph campus. Our students are passionate about serving the community and members of Randolph’s 50 clubs and organizations volunteer thousands of hours a year at local homeless shelters, after-school tutoring programs, nursing homes and on Habitat for Humanity work sites.
At Randolph, we work hard to keep you informed about exciting upcoming events in the region. As a student, you’ll have access to a personalized MyRandolph page with event listings and information about local music venues, restaurants, art galleries, wineries and sporting events. We also post flyers just about everywhere—walkways, bulletin boards, bathroom stall doors—so you won’t miss a cool upcoming concert or farmer’s market.
Of course, one of Lynchburg’s biggest draws is its natural beauty, minutes from the endless hiking and camping opportunities of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Even closer is Blackwater Creek, 330 acres of unspoiled nature with eight miles of hiking and biking trails running straight through downtown Lynchburg.
Or if you just want to get out and enjoy the fresh air, take in a Lynchburg Hillcats baseball game or curl up on a picnic blanket for a movie under the stars.
